Introduction
Despite strong competition, Oh My God 2 (OMG 2) pulled people to the cinema halls in huge numbers on its first Monday (non-holiday). The film’s box office collection on Monday stood at Rs 11.50 crore (early estimates) and the film crossed the Rs 50 crore mark within four days of its release, bringing its total collection to Rs 54.61 crore.
Good Run in Theatres
The film’s success comes as a breather to Akshay Kumar, who has had a dry spell at the ticket counters since his last five films tanked. OMG 2, starring Pankaj Tripathi, Yami Gautam, and Akshay Kumar, is having a good run in the theatres.
Monday Better than Opening Friday
OMG 2 has become the second film after The Kerala Story to have a Monday better than its opening Friday. The positive word of mouth from the audience and film critics has aided the film’s performance.
Competition from Gadar 2 and Jailer
The film had hit the theatres along with Sunny Deol’s masala entertainer Gadar 2 and Rajinikanth’s Jailer. The trade pundits were wary about OMG 2 picking up at the ticket counters, but it has managed to hold its ground.

- Opening Day Collection: Rs 10.26 crore
- Second Day Collection: Rs 15.30 crore
- Third Day Collection: Rs 17.55 crore
- Monday Collection: Rs 11.50 crore (early estimates)
Positive Reviews
Film critic Shubhra Gupta wrote in her review, “The sequel tactfully avoids the complexities of diversity by embracing a remarkably progressive and liberal viewpoint. It compels us to overlook the absence of representation from other faiths. The result is a captivating film that challenges the skepticism uninformed adults harbor towards our youth, as they explore their bodies with natural curiosity and openness.”
