Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge launched a scathing attack against the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government in his Independence Day speech. Addressing the members and workers at Congress headquarters in the national Capital, Kharge alleged that the opposition’s voice is being muzzled and Parliament members are being suspended.
Arrogance in PM Modi’s I-Day Address, Claims Kharge
Responding to PM Modi’s claim of hoisting the flag in 2024, the Congress president said it was arrogance. He criticized the PM for making comments on the opposition even on Independence Day.
- Kharge mentioned that winning or losing elections is in the hands of the voters.
- He questioned PM Modi’s constant name changes like ‘achche din’, ‘New India’, and ‘Amrit Kaal’ to hide his failures.

Kharge Skips PM Modi’s Speech at Red Fort
The Congress president did not attend PM Modi’s speech at Red Fort on Independence Day. According to the party spokesperson, it was due to logistical reasons as Kharge had to be present at the party’s headquarters for hoisting the national flag.
