Controversial Decision to Rest Kohli and Sharma
The decision to rest Kohli and captain Rohit Sharma in the last two ODIs against West Indies has received criticism. Former players have expressed their displeasure, especially in the year of the 50-over World Cup.
In response to the criticism, Hardik Pandya, who led the team in the last two ODIs, stated that resting Kohli and Sharma was necessary to provide opportunities to youngsters ahead of the World Cup.
- Pandya said: “Virat and Rohit are very integral part of the team.
- He continued: “This was very important for someone like Rutu (Ruturaj Gaikwad) to get a game or Axar (Patel) to get a game because they’ve been playing cricket for so many years, they know how exactly all these situations have been.”
